This mother has reached out to share her story of struggling to get the right support for her adopted son who currently has an EHCP. Her son was excluded from Primary school (who kept him isolated a great deal) but has secured a secondary placement whoa re now more supportive. She has also been waiting for therapy that has been identified as something he needs for over 10months with neither of the 2 social workers involved with the family managing to do anything pro-active about any of this:
"My adopted son has a Grade 7 EHCP and 2 social workers , both of whom do not support me as a mother and as a result I am still waiting for help after 10 months. They say they will put the correct support in place but it never materialises...
My son was excluded from primary but I managed to secure him a place at a secondary school. It feels like, because you stand up to them, they feel as though they can just make up rules.
Now I am having to fight for transport, due to not being able to send him to local school because of court proceedings with eldest son regarding other failings by ERYC! My youngest has urgently required therapy for 10 months, we have 2 social workers whom promise but never deliver! This has had an impact on my mental health having to deal with it alone."
